ROYAL VISIT TO SCOTLAND

on Regional Programme Scotland

View in Radio Times

The Entry of Their Majesties
King George VI and Queen Elizabeth into Edinburgh
The arrival at Princes Street Station
The Presentation of the Keys of the City
The Procession to the Palace of Holyroodhouse
(The proceedings will be described throughout by observers in Princes Street Station, the West End of Princes Street, the Scott Monument , and the Guardroom, the Palace of Holyroodhouse)
Edinburgh has seen, through the long centuries of her history, many royal entries into the city, but it is certain that none will be witnessed with greater enthusiasm than that of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth this morning. While London has certain advantages over Edinburgh for the celebration of great occasions, neither London nor any other city in Britain has so magnificent a route for royalty as that of Princes Street. Listeners may well envy the BBC's observers for their probably unparalleled view of the royal procession on its way to the Palace of Holyroodhouse.
