It had been planned to broadcast the complete operas of Benjamin Britten during 1977 as a Jubilee Year celebration of the work of our greatest opera composer. Now the series will also be a memorial. The operas will be broadcast not chronologically but grouped by subject, starting with tonight's relay from Scottish Opera, to be followed by his other operas on religious themes.
