Every day Russian military aircraft and ships operate in considerable numbers around our shores. It is the responsibility of RAF Strike Command to counter these probings.
Tonight's documentary shows for the first time actual operations being carried out in the Defence of Britain in the Seventies. In the film we see the shadowing of the Russian fleet and its submarines, the locating of spy boats, and the interception by RAF fighters of Russian military aircraft.
RAF Strike Command is described as being in the front-line of Britain's defence. How does it operate? Is it really effective in this nuclear age?
