Jascha Horenstein
The first of two programmes featuring the conductor's revelatory performance of the music of Mahler. A pupil of Franz Schreker , Horenstein was a leading figure in the revival of Mahler's music in Britain, and his interpretation of the Symphony of a Thousand was, for many years, held up as a benchmark performance.
