With Thora Hird.
Thora's back for her llth season of presenting viewers' favourite Songs of Praise.
The first programme is a celebration of the wide variety of music featured over the past year; ranging from 'The day thou gavest, Lord, is ended' sung by Christians in the morning sunshine of Tonga, to a modern hymn sung by the new-city dwellers of Milton Keynes.
Thora continues her exploration of old and new when she visits Noel Tredinnick, Musical Director of All Souls, Langham Place, and talks to him about the problems of combining the two in worship.
Let all the world in every corner sing (Luckington); Come, let us join our cheerful songs (Nativity); O happy day!; Angel-voices ever singing (Angel voices); This is the day; You are my hiding place; Y tangnefeddwyr; The day thou gavest, Lord is ended (St Clement); I'll go in the strength of the Lord.
