Composer of the Week: Bartok

3/5. Bartok's passion for collecting and arranging folk songs faltered over a crisis in his own compositional style. In the rapidly changing musical landscape, he stopped composing altogether for a few years and struggled to find his own voice. Donald Macleod looks at Bartok's middle years.
