Instrumental Revolutionaries
With Richard Baker.
When Andres Segovia gave his first recital - in Granada in 1909 - he was virtually self-taught. Outside Spain, the guitar was not taken seriously, while inside the country it was used exclusively in the folk tradition. Segovia's example inspired composers and performers and ensured the guitar's respectability. Including guitar pieces by Sor, Turina, Ponce and Rodrigo.
