Malcolm Arnold Symphony Cycle
The BBC Philharmonic and Rumon Gamba come to Arnold's powerful eighth symphony - music which has lead the composerto be described as "an English Shostakovich". Today's programme includes symphonies and film music from both composers, including high-wire thrills underthe big top in Arnold's 1956 film score Trapeze.
