Maurice Wiles , Regius Professor of Divinity in the University of Oxford and Canon of Christ Church, suggests that in the University the theologian is liable to appear as a man of undue faith, while in the Church as a man of undue doubt. Can theology be true to the ideals of university study and at the same time play a creative role in the life of the Church?
