A series of gramophone record programmes devised by Anna Instone presented by No. 4—Derek Oldham
It is noteworthy that this beau idéal among our singing actors, who played all the tenor leads in Gilbert and Sullivan with the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company both here and in America, and who has taken the parts on the stage of so many heroes, served throughout the last war, first in the ranks of the Scots Guards, then as an officer in the East Lanes Regiment, winning the M.C. in Macedonia in 1918. This week and next week in this series he will introduce some of his most successful songs, from Gilbert and Sullivan to Rose Marie and Lilac Time, and recordings made by him will be heard.
