Pierre Boulez
Pierre Boulez launched the Sounding the Century season earlier this year with an all-Stravinsky concert. Today, in anticipation of his appearance at the Proms, Peter Paul Nash looks back at Boulez's early career as a Proms conductor. The two stunning performances of 20th-century works featured in the programme helped to establish the enfant terrible of the avant-garde as a master of the podium as well as the pen.
