Animal Magic

on BBC One London

Introduced by Johnny Morris and TERRY NUTKINS
Today Johnny visits the famous homing pigeons of Freedom Fields
Hospital in Plymouth, which fly across the city carrying blood samples from hospital to laboratory.
But how do you get homing pigeons to home in the first place? It's partly instinct, partly training. To find out all about it, Johnny and Terry set up a pigeon loft outside the Animal Magic studio in Bristol. By the end of this series the birds should be able to find their way back to the loft, even when released many miles away.
