The Polignac Salon

on BBC Radio 3

If you've enjoyed the Tale of the Fox,
Drop your pennies in the box!
The centrepiece in the fourth programme in this series devoted to the music associated with the salon of the Princess Edmond de Polignac (1865-1943) is Igor Stravinsky 's burlesque Renard, written in 1916 to a commission from the princess. We also hear of her continuing association with Stravinsky over the years, and of his own trials and tribulations during his French period, including his struggle to complete Les Noces.
