Mrs. Dale, the doctor's wife records the daily happenings in he life of her family

Richard Fulton took Sally and Julie to the Horse Trials at Harewood to see Charles Lamont ride. Charles drove Julie back to town afterwards and Mr. Fulton suggested to Sally that Julie was interested in Charles. Sally thought this nonsense. In Dr. Dale's absence in Italy, Ivor Mitchell attended a meeting of doctors in Parkwood Hill and inadvertently gave the impression that Dr. Dale was in favour of the establishment of a new Health Centre. Bob and Jenny saw more of their new upstairs neighbours, the Russells, and discovered that they were always quarrelling. In Italy, Dr. and Mrs. Dale discovered that Cousin Bertram's housekeeper Rosa was disappointed that he had not left everything to her. Mrs. Dale made friends with Tarina, the little daughter of Andrea di Pino, the owner of the Neapolitan pensione where the Dales were staying.
