David says: 'To be given the chance to do a show on Radio 1 brings a welcome return to rock music for me, as I did a five-year stint on a similar programme for BBC Radio Solent. I've certainly spent a great deal of time listening to the newest sounds, and particularly like the bands now emerging on the smaller independent record labels in the post-new wave era. Hopefully, I'll be featuring some of them in the programme.'
