A reading from 'Christ and His
Cross', by Dr. W. R. Maltby
Dr. W. R. Maltby is one of the most widely known and best loved of Methodist ministers. The three outstanding things about him are his sense of humour, his passion for intellectual honesty, and his conviction that the key to Christian faith lies in patient ' staring at the New Testament until it comes to life '.
' Christ and His Cross ' consists of talks given in Australia in 1935. Dr. Maltby brings to his task a deep insight into the mind and experience of Jesus and a clear understanding of the teaching of St. Paul. The book has been widely read by both Anglicans and Freechurchmen.
