The last instalment in the 26-part history of the 20th century.

After the collapse of communism and the end of the Cold War, old enmities were replaced by new tensions and dangers. The revival of old nationalism plunged parts of the former Soviet Union and Yugoslavia into chaos that resulted in huge bloodshed, while the spread of the free-market system widened the gap between rich and poor.
