Songs of Praise

on BBC One London

from Mortlake
The University Boat Race and the No 9 bus end at Mortlake, where there's a large brewery. Mortlake also has a proud history. This summer the Mortlake Festival has been reminding this London village of its history and, of course, providing the fun of the fair. Sally Magnusson joins the celebrations. Among the people she meets is Ken Axton, who has worked at the Mortlake brewery for most of his life. Christians from the area come together in the festival big top to sing their Songs of Praise.
Shall we gather at the river? Jesu, lover of my soul (Aberystwyth); Sing, my tongue (Pange Lingua); He who would valiant be (Monks Gate); We're walking in His care (The Snowman's Hymn); Dear Lord and Father of mankind (Repton): O Praise the Lord by the riverside (Mortlake); God's spirit is in my heart
