The Singing Detective

on BBC One London

Philip Marlow has now been lying in his hospital bed for three months suffering from chronic psoriasis. "Do you know what you do overthat period, lying flat on your back?" he asks his ex-wife. "You think. About everything."
In Clues, the fourth episode of Dennis Potter 's acclaimed drama series, Marlow has plenty to think about when he hears that a film company wants to take out an option on his book about the detective who sings in a dance band.
