Baal Shem (Three Pictures of Chassidic Life)
1 Vidui (Contrition).
2 Nigun (Improvisation).
3 Simchas Torah (Rejoicing) played by Eda Kersey (violin)
Eda Kersey is practically a self-taught violinist. After a year or two's tuition she developed her playing by studying and by constant attendance at chamber and orchestral concerts at which great violinists were playing. When fourteen years old she heard Kreisler, and from that moment set her heart on being a concert soloist. She gave her first concert two years later.
She obtained her first really important engagement in 1925 when she played the Mendelssohn Concerto at the old BBC Bournemoath studio. In 1930 she played the Beethoven and Brahms Concertos at the Proms, and a year later did a tour of Holland. She has been broadcasting for the past thirteen years.
