Elgar Conducts

on BBC Radio 3

First of three programmes in which Jerrold N. Moore introduces recently reissued records of Elgar conducting his own works. He begins with the Enigma Variations, and sketches a picture of Elgar the conductor based on recollections and impressions of musicians who performed under him.
The record of the Variations, which follows, was made in 1926 with Elgar conducting the ROYAL ALBERT HALL ORCHESTRA.
