on Third Programme

View in Radio Times

by John Maddison
Jean Painleve is known throughout Europe for his poetic documentary films, many of them about underwater life. John Maddison , who introduces the programme, has devised this impression of his work largely from Pain'eve's own writings and from the music composed for his fi.ms by Milhaud, Jaubert, Bernard, and Delannoy. The extracts from Painleve's writings are read by Cecil Trouncer.
