Charly Gordon , a 30-year-old man with the mind of a child of six, is the butt of cruel jokes from his workmates whom he regards as friends. Touched by Charly's determined but hopeless efforts to improve himself, night-school-teacher Alice Kinian takes him to a clinic specialising in mental retardation.
