In 1946 all Estonian refugees living in Sweden were ordered to return to their country, then occupied by the Soviets. Knowing something of Soviet ' hospitality - the Veedam family decided that anything was better than this. Together with a group of friends as poor as themselves, they managed to buy an old boat.
