Ten programmes telling The Story of Motown Introduced by Stuart Grundy
8: Three Times a Lady The mid-70s were
Motown's leanest years, with only Diana Ross and Stevie Wonder showing any consistency, and when Stevie locked himself away in the studio for two years to record Songs in the Key of Life Motown had real problems. But new stars were beginning to make a major impact by 1977. Lionel Richie and The Commodores hit their stride with a song called 'Easy', and then went on to set new sales records for 'Three times a lady'.
