Fresh fields
Dora Bryan hasn't had her own radio show since she presented a Sunday-morning religious programme many years ago, so she's delighted to be back on the air this week sitting in for David Jacobs.
'I'm a bit apprehensive because I've never been a disc jockey before,' she says. 'But I love David's show - he plays my kind of music.'
Dora's favourite sounds are show tunes, big bands and the songs of Judy Garland and Errol Garner. 'Now, at last, I can get my own back on my children after having to listen to all their rubbish for years,' she says, although she admits that her eldest son has shown good taste in requesting Sinatra singing Mack the Knife.
It promises to be a busy week for this sunny and funny actress/comedienne; she's also opening at the Redgrave Theatre in Farnham in Coward's evergreen Hay Fever. Before that there was an eight-month tour of Hello Dolly!
Retirement? 'Oh no, I'm much too busy!' (D.G.)
