China's 'Cultural Revolution' brought to an abrupt and violent close a musical tradition stretching back thousands of years. When it ended in 1976, a whole generation of young composers began the search for a new voice, often through the rediscovery of their own traditional music. Music in Camera features top musicians from the Central Conservatory in Peking playing works by two of the most exciting young talents, alongside traditional works for Chinese intruments.
