'The song is ended, but the tune goes on ' ... and so does this popular fortnightly series, of which the fourth broadcast is to be given this evening. The programmes are devised, and the songs chosen, by Jack Davies , junior. Ben Frankel is in charge of the orchestral side and conducts the orchestra of twelve instrumentalists.
They met during the filming of Radio Parade in 1935. Davies collaborated on the screen play and Frankel did the music. Davies has done scenario writing for nearly twenty films, among them Heart's Desire, in which Richard Tauber starred and also composed the music, and Dance Band, starring Buddy Rogers.
Frankel's orchestra, which was formed for these programmes, is very unusual for a dance band: oboes, harp, flute, two French horns, trumpet, trombone, guitar, double bass, drums, but no- saxophone. The vocalist is Dorothy Carless , who has sung in this feature during the entire series.
