In Neil simon's sparkling romantic comedy, Paula McFadden, a divorcee and ex-dancer with a 10-year.old daughter, seems fated to be the 'goodbye girl' whom lovers find easy to leave. When the latest walks out on her, he adds insult to injury by subletting their apartment. Out of necessity, Paula agrees to share it with the new tenant, bohemian actor Elliot Garfield - but strictly on the understanding that their paths cross as infrequently as possible.
