Boxing: The Heavyweight Championship of the World

on BBC One London

from Las Vegas
Larry Holmes (Champion) V Gerry Cooney (Challenger)

Exclusive coverage of the richest fight in the history of the sport in the gambling capital of the world. Larry Holmes (32) is unbeaten in 39 fights and is making his 12th defence against a man who has a fearsome reputation for his punching power.
Gerry Cooney, or the 'Great White Hope' as he is so often referred to, hasn't fought for 13 months but that last contest against Ken Norton lasted only 54 seconds. If Holmes can win again he will no longer be the under-rated title-holder, but a very worthy champion.
