Darwin's Finches
When Charles Darwin visited the Galapagos Islands in the southern Pacific during the voyage of The Beagle, he was impressed by the ' gradation and diversity of structure in one small, intimately related group of birds,' which have since come to be known as Darwin's Finches.
DAVID LACK, F.R.s., discusses our present-day knowledge of these finches with JAMES FISHER , and Sir JULIAN HUXLEY , F.R.s., describes their significance in Darwin's theory of evolution.
