Success Story: Jonah Barrington

on BBC One London

The first in a new series of six programmes about people whose life and work have caught the public's imagination in the past few years.
In 1964 Jonah Barrington was 23. He had been sent down from Dublin University; and in his own admission was jobless and too frequently drunk. Just two years later he had won the first of his six World Squash titles and was reputedly the fittest man in Britain. On the crest of his own success, the game of squash has become the fastest growing sport in the world.
