6—' A Dance and a Proposal'
Cast in order of speaking:
Produced by Mary Hope Allen
The return of Sir Thomas causes consternation at Mansfield Park. His family hurry to meet him, the rehearsal is abandoned, and the Crawfords decide to return home. Sir Thomas's disapproval of the acting scheme is manifested after an encounter with Mr. Yates upon the newly constructed stage in the billiard room, and a copy of ' Lovers' Vows ' is thrown upon the fire.
Henry Crawford leaves for Bath, and Maria determines that her marriage with Rushworth must go forward. After the wedding Julia joins her sister at Brighton; and Fanny, now the only young woman, finds herself of greater consequence and is surprised and delighted by Sir Thomas's increased kindness. At a dinner party at the Parsonage, Fanny is disconcerted by the reappearance of Henry Crawford, who pays her marked attention. The next day he informs his sister that he intends to make Fanny fall in love with him.
