Ken Vandermark. Although strongly influenced by the avant-garde jazz of Peter Brotzmann , Vandermark's compositions also use funk, rock and contemporary pop rhythms. His long-standing quintet comprises the cream of Chicago's new wave of improvisers: Kent Kessler (bass), Tim Mulvenna
