Michael Berkeley 's guest tod ay is American historian Kathleen Burke , professor of modern and contemporary history at
University College, London. Her previous publications include Goodbye, Great
Britain - a study of the 1976 IMFcrisisand her new book on the life of AJP Taylor, The Troublemaker, will be published this autumn. Her private passion is for music of much earlier times, and her choices today include vocal and instrumental pieces by Machaut, Praetorlus, Byrd, Monteverdi, Mozart, Beethoven and Schubert.
