In August, 1867, Johann Strauss , the Waltz King, then at the height of his European reputation, paid his first visit to London. The visit of the great Herr Strauss , Kaiserlich-Koniglich-Hofballmusikdirektor to His Imperial Majesty the Emperor of Austria, was made to the indirect instigation of H.R.H. the Prince of Wales.
