England v. the Rest of Europe
A commentary on the second half of the International match by Thomas Woodrooffe from the Arsenal Stadium, Highbury
This afternoon the Arsenal Stadium will be the scene of one of the most unusual football matches ever played, when a picked team representing England will take on a similarly representative team of the whole Continent. This is the first time in football history that such a match has been arranged, and it is certain that England, the original home of Association football, will make every effort to justify her position.
In previous international matches the English team, having had no chance to practise together, faced sides whose members had come to know each other well. This afternoon both teams, while representing the pick of players available, will face each other having had little experience of actual team-work.
