Massimilla Doni Opera in four acts
Libretto by ARMIN RUEGER based on the novel by HENRI DEBALZAC
Music by Othmar Schoeck (sung in German)
Love and art in the opera world of 1830s Venice. Massimilla, torn between her love for Emilio and duty to her husband, Cattaneo, epitomises the artistic conflict between feeling and order.
Her husband, meanwhile, is advancing the career of a young soprano, and his friend Capraja, that of a young tenor.
