The 10th Commonwealth Games will be opened by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh in Christchurch, New Zealand, tomorrow. More than 2,000 competitors will compete in nine different sports.

Harry Carpenter sets the scene in Christchurch, and from the new Queen Elizabeth II Stadium David Coleman and Ron Pickering introduce the gold medal contenders in the athletics programme.
