The Rev Paul Oestrelcher , vicar of Blackheath, is Chairman of the British Section of Amnesty International. He has a particular interest in Eastern Europe, as he was born in a town now in East Germany. Meiningen. where his mother was a singer at the Court Theatre. He lived through a childhood under Hitler; went as a refugee to New Zealand; and. perhaps inevitably, has come to feel deeply about human rights and the world's oppressed.
