Foden's Motor Works Band

on Forces Programme

View in Radio Times

Conductor, Fred Mortimer
Of all the brass bands associated with big industrial concerns, Foden's is perhaps the best known. Twice it has done the ' hat trick ' at the Crystal Palace, winning the premier trophy in 1932, 1933, and 1934, and again in 1936, 1937, and 1938 Founded by the late Edwin Foden in 1900, to celebrate the relief of Mafeking, the band is composed of employees of the Foden's Motor Works, Sandbach, Cheshire. It is interesting to note that this is its one hundredth broadcast.
