Moscow born, Nina Milkina came to London in 1918, and when only seven years old entered the Matthay School. She later continued her piano studies in Paris, and, after obtaining a first place in the Concours at the Paris Conservatoire, went on to study under
Glazunov. Nina Milkina wrote her first composition, a suite entitled ' My Toys '. when only eleven years old. It was broadcast from Paris in the year of publication. Maurice Ravel , became interested in her work, and Rachmaninoff, on hearing her play, prophesied a great future for her. In the spring of this year she undertook a tour of Holland.
