Choirworks: Gubaidulina's St John Passion

Paul Guinery presents a concert given last month, which featured the world premiere of Sofia Gubaidulina's Russian language setting of the Passion according to St John. This large-scale work for four soloists, double choir and orchestra is part of Stuttgart's Passion 2000 project marking the 250th anniversary of Bach's death and was commissioned by the International Bach Academy, Stuttgart, for their recent European music festival.
