on Third Programme

View in Radio Times

First of two talks by H. N. Southern of the Bureau of Animal Population,
University of Oxford
The speaker explains why in a full ecological study it is essential to include the nocturnal animals.
In his second talk he describes some of the techniques he has evolved for watching animals at night, and explains why new information obtained in this way may call for a reorientation of one's ideas about the economy and ecology of a woodland community.
