A house wife is what Clementine Houlden would like to be, only the house in question is the House of Commons. She wants to enter Parliament as a Labour MP, but her ambition is nothing without popular support. Neither her husband, Stephen, nor her mother, Dot, give encouragement and she has to struggle alone as her granny Violet, an ex-suffragette, once had to do.
