Cinema Up to Now: 1: New Wave, Same Ocean

on BBC Radio 4 FM

A series of six programmes in which John Baxter examines the changes in cinema that have occurred over the past 25 years.

Since the French 'New Wave' broke at the Cannes Film Festival of 1959, many countries have produced new waves of their own, each of which has made a contribution to world cinema. John Baxter examines this recurring phenomenon with the help of the film directors Stanley Kramer, Louis Malle, Lindsay Anderson, Milos Forman, John Carpenter, Gil Brealey and Jeanne Moreau.
Interviews by Tom Brooke in New York and by Carroll Moore and Barbra Paskin in Los Angeles.
Producer CARROLL MOORE
