Wildlife on One: Gannets Galore

on BBC One London

Narrated by David Attenborough

Islands around our coast support the largest gannet colonies in the world. Off the Hebrides, more than 100,000 birds are on the granite pinnacle of Stac Lee alone. There's the clamorous cry of gannets in their thousands as they claim nest sites, raise their young, plunge-dive into the sea after fish at 100 kph, and compete with the piratical skua for possession of the catch - spectacular evidence that our biggest seabird is very much 'top of the rock'!
