Originating in a fishing village 500 years ago, the disease spread as Portuguese explorers and merchants sailed around the world. Now there is a revolutionary treatment that offers the only hope for many of these patients.
Also: a new way of unravelling the secrets of an aircraft's black box - a computer using three-dimensional simulation which allows investigators to become virtual eyewitnesses to the vital moments just before an accident. With Kate Bellingham , Carmen Pryce , Judith Hann and Howard Stableford.
