Organ Concerto No. 7, in B flat
First of six programmes of Handel's organ concertos and Chandos anthems
Each programme in this series will include two organ concertos and one of the twelve anthems that Handel wrote for performance in the chapel of the Duke of Chandos at Cannons, near Edgware. The concertos (which Handel used to play as interludes during his oratorios) will be performed as nearly as possible in the style of the eighteenth century. Handel's exact relationship with the Duke of Chandos is still a matter of speculation; but of the splendour of the Chandos Anthems there can be no question. Harold Rutland
