Stoned - the History of Rolling Stone Magazine

on BBC Radio 2

A new two-part documentary looking at the first critically "serious" rock and pop magazine, whose modern, corporate slickness belies the countercultural flavour of the publication's first edition, which appeared at news-stands in November 1967. Presented by film-maker and one-time Rolling Stone writer Cameron Crowe, with input from Hunter S Thompson, Annie Leibovitz, Lester Bangs, Chet Flippo, Greil Marcus and many of the magazine' s other contributors, including its founder Jann Wenner.
